Aluminum Allow Anchors Earn Top Certification

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL (USA) – For centuries it was commonly believed that anchors had to be made of the heaviest material available to properly secure a boat, but as evidenced by a recent certification by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Fortress Anchors have proven those beliefs to be false with their aluminum anchor product line.

DNV, a leading maritime Classification Society, has recently approved the certification of two additional Fortress models as “Super High Holding Power” (SHHP) anchors, meaning that these models have proven to have the holding power of steel anchors that are four times heavier. According to the 2017 company’s spokesman, “DNV reviewed our extensive independent test data, some of which was conducted by the US Navy, and found superior holding power to weight ratios for our anchors that oftentimes exceeded well over 200x.

The fact that the US Coast Guard has used our anchors aboard some of their largest patrol boats, including their new 154-foot Fast Response Cutter (FRC), attests to their structural strength and holding power capabilities, and at a fraction of the weight of steel anchors.” Fortress Marine Anchors have been manufacturing their product at the same facility in Fort Lauderdale since 1987. Fortress anchor models are available in 8 sizes with weights from 4 to 70 lbs.
