Fortress Marine Anchors Renews Sponsorship With Portuguese Sailing team
Fortress Marine Anchors, global leader in lightweight, high-holding anchors, has renewed its sponsorship with the world-class Giulietta Sailing Team. Led by Alex Kossack, the Portuguese team recently took dual honors at the 64th Giraglia Rolex Cup in St. Tropez, France. In Class ORC A, it won the Ville de St. Tropez Trophy, and the first place combined trophy for inshore and offshore races.
As part of the relationship, Fortress Marine Anchors supplied the 40′ Delmar Conde prototype 1200CR Giulietta-Marina de Cascais with its 15 lb. FX-23 anchor. “The Fortress is aluminum and weighs nothing, but above all, it works flawlessly in all beds, from sand to mud and rock,” said Kossack. “It’s the favorite anchor for racers.” The team’s Facebook can be located at Giulietta Sailing Team.
“Alex and his team are fierce and highly skilled competitors,” said 2017 Fortress Marine Anchors spokesperson Brian Sheehan. “We congratulate them on this impressive win and appreciate their partnership.”
Whether racing or cruising, Fortress Marine Anchors are perfect for sailing. Because of their extreme light weight—half that of a comparable steel anchor—they can stay up on a roller or in a forward storage locker without unduly increasing pitching motion. When it’s time to race, they can be easily disassembled and stowed.
Built in the USA from marine-grade, aluminum-magnesium alloy, their sharpened flukes can be adjusted to 32° or 45°, depending on the bottom. Designed for vessels from 39′ to 45′ feet, Giulietta Sailing Team’s Fortress Anchor FX-23 can be purchase with a costs of $329.99.
